My New Fave (and ABSURD) Online Store

I was on blog patrol today and spotted a flipping awesome LEO DICAPRIO covered ensemble on style2bones. In pursuit of finding out where such a loco outfit was from, I stumbled across the greatest, worst, most hilarious online store on the whole interweb.

Meet O-Mighty. The neon, flashing, ass-gif-filled home of your 90s and noughties cultural obsessions - printed onto clothes. I mean, this site's design makes Bip Ling's blog look like Wikipedia. 

Here are some noteable pieces from the Singapore-based site... Ren & Stimpy, emojis, txt-spk, Clueless, Rugrats... This is essentially a lifetime of my fave things on clothes. The 'Obama booty shorts' deserved a special mention, too, although I *probs* won't be purchasing. (Excuse the low res pics - their fault not mine!)

And the sock selection... KimK's 'belfie', Bieber's mug shot, Steve Buscemi (?!) and a baby Drake. It's ALL going on.

International shipping is $10 and although it does take up to 4 weeks, it comes with this sound advice...

Five Ways To Wear: The Sweater (and things about cats)

Just checking out the Toppers site and I have two major things to report. 

Firstly I am DEFINITELY entering this competition to make Roxy a 'sock star'. I've always said she should be a cat model but what with the accidental kittens (#throwbackmonday!!) and the resulting saggy belly, it just wasn't to be. But a SOCK, she could totally do. I truly feel she was born for this. Wish her luck, guys! ^_^

Anyway, onto erm, fashiony stuff. Topshop's latest Five Ways To Wear feature focuses on the sweater, an item I personally love. I love blog posts and features that show you a bunch of ways to wear certain items - Rebecca has got to be the blogging queen of that! 

Time to remind myself that I can do a LOT more impressive things with my array of sweaters than bung them on with jeans and hope for the best. Take it away, ladies...

Weekend Snapshots: Coats, Car Boots and Carbs

I've had a lovely chilled weekend, including re-discovering the slightly ropey roof space out the back of our flat which I remembered is quite a good outfit photo location! So without further ado, here's what I wore on Saturday:

Saturday consisted of going around central London because it was the very rare occasion that I can actually face shopping! I had a pretty epic haul actually (might save for another post), but this Mango jacket was my fave!

The lowlight was Alex dragging me round  vintage shops as I have, in my old age, become so utterly fed up with them. They actually make me verge on feeling panic-attacky which is bizarre, but HEY, they still make for a good photo. 

And BREATHE... So on Saturday night we checked out Cabana, the new Brasilian place in Islington with the loveliest paintwork of all time! LOVELY food. 

Sunday was spent mooching around Dalston and Stoke Newington near us, meeting up with some pals before I went for a sunday roast at my mate Charlotte's house! She edits Betty Magazine, which you need in your life almost instantly. 

I basically wore ALL the new things from Saturday:

We headed to the Princess May car boot sale. We have never got anything in there but still always go JUST IN CASE...

A quick stop at the florist on Stoke Newington Road for tulips for Charlotte!

Roast dinner time! Charlotte and Jen went to UCA too, but it's only since uni we've become chummy - and I'm so glad we have.

And that was my lovely weekend in a nutshell! 

It's a busy week ahead as I'll be getting all of my deadlines for features in the April issue of Company Magazine! Always my favourite time of the month, when I make loads of lists and pretend I'm all organised, before it all spirals out of control later on in the month... It's always fun, even amid the chaos. Anyway, I'm actually reading an amazing book on becoming a 'productivity ninja' so maybe I can get through this issue without chaos... Watch this space!

Photo Diary #6

Thought I'd do a little snapshot post of what I've doing/eating lately! 

Last week was amazing - we shot the Haim sisters for the front cover of Company's Feb issue and it was SO GOOD. They were so nice, super funny and just uber cool. It's my first 'cover profile' as they call it in Mag Land, so I got to interview them, too. I've been on the features team for 5 months and I still haven't mastered how not to be an embarrassing fangirl and say things like "I LOVE YOU" to people's faces. Haim seemed to dig it though. I mean, Este hugged me. I haven't washed since. 

(I just need hair extensions and I could be the fourth Haim sis!)

Moving on to equally exciting news, we previewed Krispy Kreme's Halloween selection at work last week. My verdict? 'Spooky, gooey mouth-magic'. Krispy Kremes are my life. Fun fact: when I didn't live in London and KK's were a rarity, I used to bulk buy a box of glazed whenever I was in London and FREEZE THEM so I could enjoy them at regular intervals. What's wrong with me? What's it like to be normal? Answers on a postcard, plz.

In more food news, Team Company tried out the newly opened Grill Shack on Beak St for @Alexxsia's birthday! I had half a chicken (£7.95) and fries (£2 ish) and it was heaven on a plate. When it comes to chicken, I only have eyes for Nando's but this was seriously good. A must-munch by all accounts.

Okay one more piece of food news now - our features intern Hannah baked us some treats on the last day of her internship, consisting of a cookie base, a brownie top and an Oreo in the middle. WTF. That's the true measure of a good intern - how good their baked treats are.

Friday night was a surreal one! The Sea Life Centre are starting their own equivalent of 'Zoo Lates', and doing late night openings of the aquarium. Alex and I went along and it was pretty awesome. Free drinks (hiya), street food and cute fishies. This thing scared the life out of me though: a glass walkway with SHARKS beneath. Eeeeeek!

Onto scarier things now: The National Wedding Show. It was on at the weekend and I decided to check it out with Alex so we could start entertaining the idea of actually planning this bloody wedding. I did get a couple of ideas from it (Oh hi, Timbergram) but on the whole it cemented the idea that I want an atypical wedding... One that doesn't involve a bling encrusted meringue dress and the need to bung a laser in my mouth like something out of a sci fi film in the pursuit of Ross-from-Friends glowing teeth. It freaked me out so much I just had to selfie it and show you! 

Fair play to traditional wedding wanters, but for some reason that dream of being 'princess for a day' seemed to skip a generation with me. Don't get me started on hen night panic, either. Arrrgghhh. Married life will be a breeze compared to actually planning the bloody thing. Hashtag enthusiasm.

Ooh I did love these gorgeous bespoke lights by Carousel Lights, though! Wonder if they'll make me a pretty sign for my wedding saying 'WEDDINGS SUCK'. That was a joke but actually I think it could look pretty cool...

Then we mooched around the V&A nearby and went to the Club To Catwalk exhibition. We have an Art Pass so it was half price - a great investment if you're a Londoner that loves going to exhibitions! This exhibition was super cool - I learnt about whole 80's fashion subcultures I hadn't even heard of - Body Map?! Eh?

Lazy Oaf S/S 2012 Lookbook

East London creative label, Lazy Oaf have just released their Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook shot by Bella Howard, and I am officially loving it. The shoot itself has a Wildfox vibe (giggling girls, bed poses, white tiger!) but minus the smut and plus the fun factor. Lazy Oaf are all about bright, quirky graphic prints, and next season sees fruit, flowers and cats (YAY!) as the key focus. The styling here reminds me of the 90s I remember (not the plaid shirt, moshpit 90s that fashion usually recalls): bright and busy prints, bunches and towering Spice Girl platforms. Well, I only dreamt of the latter because we were too poor for Buffalos, but I still had girl power in spades! And don't lie, we all had those t-shirts with the hand prints on the boobs. They just weren't cool until now:

I have too much love for Lazy Oaf and can't wait for these pieces to drop (especially the cat tail t-shirt!) The prices aren't exactly bargain basement (around £35-60 for tees and dresses), but for an uber cool statement piece from an independent label, I am willing to cough up!

Meadham Kirchhoff x Nail Rock

Meadham Kirchhoff's Spring/Summer 2012 collection was a loveably barmy explosion of kitsch. The models resembled dolls as they shuffled in their flatforms down the catwalk in candy colours, frou frou frills and cartoon prints. The collection is almost sickly in its unashamed girliness and I adore it. Can I afford any of it? Of course not. Well, maybe this kitty tee if I gave up Nando's for a while... 

So I was thrilled to learn that they were teaming up with Nail Rock to launch a collection of nail wraps inspired by their SS/12 collection exclusively for Topshop. The array of cartoon illustrations (including one suspiciously naughty design..) all come in one pack and are due to launch in the middle of February, retailing at £8. 

I tried the striped Nail Rock wraps that came in a Glossybox I was sent as a sample a while ago and despite my reservations, I actually thought they were incredible! They were easy to apply (as long as you follow instructions to the letter), and lasted forever (around 2 weeks if we're being literal, here) without the need for a topcoat or anything! I only wear a couple of wraps at a time as 'statement nails' so I can make the pack last longer.

I cannot wait to add these adorable wraps to my collection. Fingernails crossed they launch in time for LFW so my hands can look on-trend even if the rest of me doesn't!
